Fall-ing Down

Bad news- I don't have a camera right now, which is why I haven't taken ANY pictures of my outfits! It's all very upsetting, and I feel like a lazy, lazy blogger. But, I did want to show you a little something from the DKNY Fall 2009 show even though I know everyone (but me) is already on Spring 2010...I just loved this collection to much. The classic, below-the-knee pencil skirt was superb and the colours just got me all excited. I prefer the richness of these colours to the lighter summer colours. It's actually really cold here (or maybe I'm just not used to it) but I'm super duper excited for winter!

Braided bun

Today I had my hair in a very easy bun that needs about shoulder length hair. Here's how to do it:
1. Section all your hair into three just like you would for a braid.
2. Braid your hair tightly for as long as you can but leave some space at the end.
3. Tuck the end into the bottom and take your clip or even bobby pins and secure the bun.
4. Use a bit of hairspray to secure your fly-aways.

Hope this look fits you!!

Feel the burn

hoodie: H&M
leggings: H&M
shoes: Converse
Even though I borrowed the hoodie from my brother and it was huge, it wasn't long enough, so it was kind of uncomfortable wearing it with leggings. But it was fun cause I felt super sporty. Almost like one of those 80's workout video instructors. Don't pay attention to the technicalities of the picture. It's hard to set the timer, run to position and then go back to check the picture and repeat. I know- lighting, composition and everything is messed up (and there's a socket in the background)...but, ya gotta start somewhere...right?

so long summer...

purple dress- costa blanca $25
shoes- sterling $50
belt- dad's closet $priceless
necklace- mom's closet $priceless

This was my good bye summer outfit. The weather is still ok, but florals are going to have to wait for a while. A long time in Canada. Hope you like this outfit.

Dark Studs

top: Forever 21
bottom: google...?
I want, need and must have an all black studded belt. Preferably with matte black studs, but I can go both ways. My brother has the sweetest one from H&M...but...it was too big!
I found one in Garage too...and it was big again and they didn't have any more sizes left.
pooh.
Maybe I can get the one from F21 but I was hoping to get one that I can use around my hips rather than my waist since I was hoping that a belt like this can jazz up a lazy day outfit (mostly jeans and a tee). Unless, I put the belt on top of the t-shirt. We'll see :)

Pearls.

Above: Wear it as a headpiece, bracelet, match up with another necklace or just in a knot. I also had a pendant with matching ear rings that i put on a ribbon as a choker.

Above: Wear your long pearl necklace as belt for a sleek sophisticated look.

Below: A few other different ways to wear your necklace. My favorite is the center left.

Snow Bunny

(Victoria's Secret, H&M)
Oddly enough, winter is my favourite season of the year. I love everything about it, even the blizzards. And I'm super excited for this season. The "snow bunny" look is so enviable. It's relaxed and easy and looks like you spent no time on getting ready (which we all know it means that you spent hours getting ready and probably planned the night before...not that I would know...).

I know what you're thinking- Uggs...ew. I don't even have a pair, but I know for Canadian winters, they are the best shoes, even if they are suede, because they keep your feet nice and toasty. Would I ever buy them? Maybe not real Uggs- probably some knockoff from Payless so that at the end of the season, I won't care if they are ruined from wear and tear. But I must say, the girl in the top picture pulls them off really well.

Plump, pouts, plum.

Purple may have been last fall's colour, but these lips are sure an attention grabber. Wear them with neutral make up to draw attention to your lips. Make sure that you lips are nice and smooth though, because your look can turn out disastrous with chapped lips.

Or for the more hesitent...
try a more subdued version:

Wild Thing

Dear Nat,

I'm addicted to this site. Can you tell? I think I might go crazy if I stare at those colours too long. But what can I say, I love them. Can't wait to see your makeup look :)

NOTE: Me and my friend (Nat) have collaborated together to make one blog. Enjoy!

Face fall with freshness.

Sadly the hot summer days (very few that we've had) will be over. Fall is just around the corner and your make up requires an update. I found a very cute new trend on www.taaz.com which is a photo editing site where you can try on make up and hairstyles. The idea behind this look is to look young and glowing.

For your eyes, you should apply a shimmery light blue, baby pink, or taupe eyeshadow. Apply it over the lid as well bringing it up bit. There is not need to use anymore colours for crease or highlight unless you think it fits better. Use a pencil eyeliner and apply it to the roots of your lashes only or otherwise known as waterline. Try to use a brown or dark purple because they are more soft. But if your hair is black and you have big eyes you can go ahead and apply a thin line of black. About two or three layers of black mascara (preferably the type that makes your lashes wispy) will help your eyelashes look long, and feathery.

Your skin should resemble a perfectly-skinned teenage girl. That means minimum coverage but matte finish. Something like powder will do. I used Yves Rocher, Yria pressed powder
"http://www.yvesrocher.ca/control/maquillage/fonds-de-teint/teint-radieux-poudre-eclat-effet-lissant-beige-naturel/?hbxSrc=_Search"
and a concealer by Organic wear in Soft Yellow Organics "http://www.organicwearmakeup.com/en-us/ProductDetail/Organic-wear-100-Natural-Origin-Concealer-Stick/02150.html".
You may choose to apply an appricot or peach blush. I just don't have any of that shade. It should perk you face up right away and look younger.

For my lips I used Yves Rocher Luminelle lipstick in petale. "http://www.yvesrocher.ca/control/rouge-a-levres-luminelle-petale/"
and then I applied a golden lipgloss.

Try out this look and I hope it fits you. It's very "girl next door" so you should look the prettiest girl on your block.

Ooh la la

I can spend hours on this site. All the different clothes and combinations, it's like...paradise. Too bad a lot of it is designer so I'll have to find similar clothes (but a LOT cheaper)

Fighting a losing battle

tee- jacob connexion
dress- jacob connection
scarf- H&M
watch- swatch
Weather in Canada is ridiculous. Up until now, it has been unusually cold, rainy and very depressing. Now it's hot and steamy. Which makes summer dressing difficult because I don't really want to wear anything but PJs and stay in my icy fresh basement. Sadly, yesterday I had to go somewhere and since it was night, I was able to put on some more clothes. Just a tee and a breezy summer dress. They say that if you don't like the weather in Canada, wait five minutes...

Colour me crazy

My affair with colours is a very complicated matter. I love colour. I love it in all shades and on anything. Fabrics, paints, furniture and art. And I love to see lots of colours put together in an interesting way (especially in interior design), but I seem to have an aversion to wearing colour on myself. Which is also weird, cause I have a lot of colourful stuff in my closet, which makes a monochromatic outfit very difficult to pick out. I just feel that whenever I get dressed, I always put on one too many colours and they're always clashing or something. I just don't appreciate colour on myself. But then I see others and they look perfectly fine. I think it has to do with the fact that my mom always wears clothes that are loud and attention-grabbing, through the use of colour. But it never looks bad on her because she knows how to put it together (she is, after all, an artist). It's a very strange ordeal...

Subway Stops

So I got together with a bunch of girls to celebrate a friend's birthday and I was really inspired by this outfit from Alice Point. Actually, it looks almost the same but I didn't mean for that to happen. I bought the dress and THEN I saw this picture and I thought a jacket was the perfect way to dress it down.

Apologies for the bad quality of my picture. It was taken on an iphone where it looked much, much better.

Jacket: American Eagle
Dress: H&M
Shoes: Rocket Dog
Necklace: H&M
Purse: H&M
I had to return the necklace :( I was so upset when I took it off and saw a huge green ring around my neck and the bronze paint (?) on the necklace rubbed off to reveal silver. You can't see it in this picture but it was big and bubbly and just so amazing...
